RP Associate Mark Bailey Secures Acquittal in DNC Arrestee Jury Trial

After a two-day jury trial in Denver County Court, RP associate attorney Mark Bailey secured an acquittal of the charge of Obstructing Passage in a DNC arrestee case.  On August 25, 2008, during the Democratic National Convention, law enforcement detained over 100 people at the intersection of 15th Street and Court Place.  Mark’s client was part of this group, and after being detained for more than one hour, was arrested for allegedly obstructing the streets.  The jury returned a verdict of “Not Guilty” on October 29.

Earlier this fall, Mark represented a DNC protestor who was charged with providing false information to police.  The City Attorney dismissed these charges shortly after Mark entered his appearance.

Both cases were handled on a pro bono basis and were referred by the Colorado Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild’s Democratic National Convention - People’s Law Project.

Congratulations, Mark!
