Michael A. Rollin

Partner

At Reilly Pozner LLP, we are creative team players—on both offense and defense. We proudly represent both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil and criminal litigation in courts around the country. Michael Rollin is a partner with the firm.

Michael is a nationwide business and bankruptcy litigator.  His practice is concentrated in three primary areas:  intellectual property, mortgage-backed securities and the secondary mortgage market, and bankruptcy-related litigation.  Much of Michael's work, especially that which pertains to trade secret and trademark litigation, involves seeking or opposing preliminary injunctions, as the case may be.  This intense area of practice is a favorite of Michael's and fits well with his prior experience in the military and eight-year stint as a Sheriff's deputy and sergeant.  Michael's many real-life experiences help him approach the stressful situations inherent in litigation with a uniquely level-headed approach.

Michael earned his undergraduate degree in political science summa cum laude from the University of Colorado-Denver, and graduated first in his class at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Michael got his start as a lawyer with Arnold & Porter, and joined Reilly Pozner in 2005. In 2010, Michael was named a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers magazine and was a finalist for Law Week Colorado's "Compleat Lawyer" honors.

Michael works on these cases: …

  • Reilly Pozner has been approved by the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy court to act as Lehman's national coordinating and lead trial counsel in prosecuting claims against mortgage loan originators that sold Lehman defective loans, and to respond to billions of dollars in claims filed against the Lehman estate. Michael heads up this significant representation--involving several hundred cases in 26 states.
  • In the highly-competitive financial services industry, the risk unfair competition is ever-present. Our client, The Variable Annuity Life Insurance Company, proactively protects its business and trade secrets from efforts of competitors, including former employees, to gain an unfair advantage. Reilly Pozner is national counsel for VALIC's unfair competition docket, and through the skillful use of temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions, has helped VALIC maintain its status as an industry leader. Michael and Reilly Pozner also represent VALIC affiliates in other intellectual property, contract, unfair competition, and insurance coverage cases, as well as arbitration proceedings before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority or FINRA. Michael is one of VALIC's lead trial lawyers.
  • Belmar Pharmacy in Lakewood, Colorado, offers a unique tablet-based form of natural hormone replacement therapy, based on its proprietary compounding and tableting system. Michael has and continues to represent Belmar in defense of its intellectual property and market position.
  • Quote

"At Reilly Pozner, we work out of a different playbook, which makes it difficult for our opponents to anticipate our discovery and trial approach.  I am not going to give them away here, but it is fair to say that our complex civil litigation practice—born from the merger of criminal defense and plaintiff personal injury tactics and strategies—has proved effective and, frankly, fun to be a part of."
