RP is pleased to announce that Associate Michelle Berge was one of four attorneys nominated for the Colorado Lawyers Committee’s Individual of the Year Award. In 2009, Michelle was a member of the CLC Consumer Fraud Against Spanish Speakers in Weld County Task Force, which collaborated with local service providers to examine allegations of mortgage and consumer fraud. After determining that the biggest issue facing Weld County was a general lack of legal resources, the task force created the Greeley Legal Night Clinics. Volunteer lawyers at the clinics provide basic legal information and referrals to individuals and families living in Weld County on areas of law including consumer and debt problems, employment, housing, immigration, and family law. Michelle serves as the Chair of the Greeley Legal Night Clinics and coordinates all volunteer recruitment, advertising, and management of the events. She was nominated for the CLC Individual of the Year Award because she has done an outstanding job coordinating and managing this important effort that served an estimated three hundred people in 2010 and over four hundred to date in 2011.
